Who and What
The Adams Class Veterans Association, Inc., (ACVA) was/is the "parent company" of the effort to save the Adams and set up a museum. It was they who, after a great deal of effort, finally located a city (Jacksonville, Florida - one of her home ports during her years of service) that was interested in hosting the Adams Class Museum. It was also they who produced and submitted the required application to NAVSEA. The ACVA's scope is world wide, currently having members in the United States and a number of other countries, such as Australia.
The Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association (JHNSA) is the local (Jacksonville, Florida) group which the ACVA set up to actually establish and run the museum. It has now taken the lead roll in the project and is based in the ADAMS Class Museum Visitor Center in downtown Jacksonville.
